Located in the southern region of Iran, it is the second-largest tribe of Turkic origin by population. These tribes comprise a group of over 250,000 people. They are a nomadic pastoralist people who move their flocks of sheep and goats according to pastures and seasons. Their migration route, located at an average altitude of 2500 m above sea level, is considered one of the most difficult and longest among nomadic peoples.

It is common to find bird or other animal motifs in these carpets, and their borders generally feature highly developed floral designs.

Typical Colors

Good quality pieces still use natural pigments as the base for their colors. Red, blue, yellow, and gold are the most characteristic.

With soft, fine wool and a firm, consistent structure, various pile heights can be found. The quality of Kashgai carpets and runners is highly variable.

Due to being a very numerous population that travels long distances, the materials used to make them, such as pigments or wools, correspond to the places they travel through.
